Frank Lloyd Wright is a legend in the history of Architecture.

When I visited several his buildings in Chicago area, I found he also successfully created a wonderful interface between building and landscapes:

1. Using landscapes to create an interactive edge between building and outdoor environment, a great dialogue between building and street context;

2. Dance of light: shadows of trees create vivid landscapes on walls and roofs, bring vitality to buildings;

3. The interesting contrast between soft, gentle landscapes with rough, solid concrete or brick surface of buildings;

4. The integration of middle-scale semi-public space and intimate, small-scale  outdoor space;

5. Using landscapes as a metaphor of life and creating a sense of time;

6. Using plantings to highlight the visual axis and focal points of the place.
